By accompanying clients to museum exhibitions, gallery shows and art fairs, either virtually or in person, Liz can simultaneously hone the aesthetic direction of the collector and take into account their goals and priorities for building a collection of lasting value.
Selling
Beaman Delman Fine Arts has handled several sales at auction on behalf of longstanding clients. Liz’s perspective after having worked at both major houses for nearly two decades makes her uniquely qualified to review competing proposals from multiple auction houses. Proposals can vary on auction estimates, terms of sale, sale plans, sale venues, sale formats and marketing, as well as the specialist teams in charge of the sale, all of which need to be strategically leveraged for the best possible outcome. Navigating this process with an insider’s expertise has proved enormously valuable for our clients. A recent Estate advised by Beaman Delman brought nearly two and a half times its low estimate and was led by a magnificent Albert Oehlen, which was sold at Sotheby’s in London in 2019.
Buying
Whether starting from scratch, or refining and strengthening an existing collection, Beaman Delman Fine Art advises on acquisitions made across all platforms. In the case of acquiring work directly from a gallery, our relationships with the leading galleries ensure access to important works of art on a priority basis. We negotiate on your behalf to ensure the best possible price for the work while providing comprehensive documentary support outlining why the work is a fit for both your collection and, in our belief, is likely to be of lasting value. For works of art appearing at auction, we function as an intermediary between you and the auction house. This includes sourcing our own independent condition report, where appropriate, and having a clear understanding of the level of interest in advance of the sale date. We also function as your bidding agent for the sale itself. In the event of a successful purchase, we will navigate all post-sale logistics on your behalf.
Appraisals & Collection Management
Beaman Delman Fine Arts provides appraisals for all acquisitions made through the firm. Either directly, or in partnership with a vetted team of appraisal specialists, Beaman Delman Fine Arts can furnish and update an appraisal for a client’s entire collection on an appropriate basis.
Additionally, we assist with any aspect of collection management. This includes shipping between locations, arranging for loans to public institutions, and ensuring that conservation is up to date.
